Daniel Throckmorton was descended from immigrant John Throckmorton who came to Massachusetts Colony c.1636. John Throckmorton was descended from an English aristocratic family whose origins can be traced back to pre-Norman times. From times after the Norman Conquest, John's ancestry includes king Edward I of England and Edward's ancestors (e.g. William the Conquerer), as well as William Marshal. A lot has been written about the Throckmorton families, including those of southern Ohio.
