Louisa Lucy “Lucy” Marshall (1826-1888)

This page is in need of contributors to provide further information.

Louisa Lucy Marshall was born on 19.Mar.1826 in Ohio. Her parents were Richard F. Marshall and Sarah Hall. No birth records have been found for Lucy, so information about her birth date is based on on other sources. Census records indicate that her parents were living in Harrison, Galia, OH in 1820 and in Athens, Athens, OH in 1830. However, Lucy’s father was shown as a resident of Bedford, Meigs, OH in land purchase records dated 1823, 1825, 1835 and 1836. A birthplace of Bedford, Meigs, OH seems plausible, and number of family trees show Lucy (and her brother Joshua) as born in Meigs County. Whether this is precisely true or not, it works as a general approximation.

Census records before 1850 include only the name of the head of household and numbers of people in various age and gender categories. From such records, we infer that Louisa was living with her parents in Athens, Athens, OH at age ~4 and in Scioto, Jackson, OH at age ~14. Land records, indicate that Lucy’s family may have lived in Bedford, Meigs, OH during some of the period between 1820 and 1840.

On 31.Mar.1945 , Louisa married John Brust (aka Brest). The marriage took place in Pike County, OH. Lucy's father, Richard F. Marshall, died shortly after on April 12. 1)

Lucy died at age 62 on 19.Jul.1888 in Elkhart, Logan, IL. Her grave is in Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart, Logan, IL.

1) Probate records for Richard F. Marshall indicate that Lucy was the wife of John Brust at the time of Richard's death.
