James Graham (1753-1830)

James Graham was born 4.Oct.1753. There are several theories about his origins and the identity of his parents. According to one theory, his ancestors were from Scotland; according to another theory there were from Germany (or a German speaking county).

He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. Best information available at present suggests he served with the Sixth Pennsylvania Battalion.

At some point, he married Mary Buffington.

After the Revolutionary War, he came to Ohio and was an early inhabitant in the area around the Salt Licks in what is now Jackson County, OH. He and his son, John Graham, established a settlement that was known as Grahamsville.

James died 14.Jun.1830 in Grahamsville and was buried in the Grahamsville Cemetery in Jackson County, OH.
