During the Civil War, Daniel Conrad was among the Maryland Volunteers who served in the Union Army, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. On 13.Sep.1862 he was mortally wounded in action on Maryland Heights during the Battle of Harpers Ferry and died from his wounds on 26.Oct.1862.
Daniel Conrad died on 26.Oct.1862, probably somewhere in the vicinity of Harpers Ferry, Jefferson, WV. His grave is in River View Cemetery, Williamsport, Washington, MD.
